Welcome to UZ – Center for International Students and Staff Services at the University of Zielona Góra

The project is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
According to contract no. BNP/WTP/2023/1/00006/U/00001, the “Welcome to UZ” project is implemented by the University of Zielona Góra under the “Welcome to Poland” program.

Project tasks and activities:

As part of the “Welcome to UZ” project, a modern and functional Welcome Center will be established – an information and support point for international students, doctoral candidates, as well as teaching and research staff. The Center will provide assistance in recruitment, accommodation, social integration, and adaptation to academic and everyday life in Poland.

Additionally, the following activities are planned:

• organization of four integration and promotional events for international students and staff,
• production of promotional films in foreign languages, presenting UZ’s educational and research offer,
• creation of informational and promotional materials (brochures, leaflets, gadgets, multimedia content),
• study visits to foreign universities to exchange experiences and promote UZ,
• participation in the Study in Poland program and online promotional activities (social media, websites).

Target groups:

• International students and staff coming to UZ within exchange programs, studies, research, and teaching,
• Potential candidates for studies and employment at UZ from abroad,
• Domestic students and staff interested in international mobility.

Project objectives:

• Increasing UZ’s capacity to serve international students and staff,
• Improving the university’s image and recognition on the international stage,
• Strengthening the internationalization of the university in line with UZ’s strategy for 2021–2030.

Project outcomes and results:

• Establishment of the Welcome Center as a permanent support point for foreigners,
• Increase in the number of international students and staff at UZ,
• Development of international cooperation and academic exchange,
• Improvement of the quality of education and research through cultural diversity,
• Enhancement of the university’s prestige in Poland and abroad.

Tasks of the Welcome Center at UZ include:

Information and support before departure:

• Providing information about exchange programs, internships, traineeships, and research visits.
• Assisting in choosing the appropriate program and partner university abroad.
• Offering detailed guidance on the application process, required documents, and deadlines.

Formal preparation:

• Supporting the preparation of agreements and documents required by foreign institutions.
• Assisting in preparing necessary academic documents, such as transcripts or motivation letters.

Support during your stay abroad:

• Maintaining ongoing contact with the UZ Center in case of questions or issues during your stay abroad.
• Helping to resolve matters related to studies or administrative formalities.
